Is NLR or CRP, The Early Inflammatory Marker of Covid-19 Patients

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) and C-Reactive Protein (CRP) as a Early inflammatory marker in patients admitted to COVID wards and their treatment monitoring. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. We extracted data from 76 patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. NLR and CRP values were obtained from blood samples of those patients. Results: None of the 76 inpatients were lost of any values in this retrospective study. NLR and CRPof all patients were studied. CRP were found positive in 47.4% cases, while NLR was positive in only 3% cases. However, both NLR and CRP were positive in 34.2% cases. Conclusion: This study showed that CRP proved to rise fast in Inflammatory states but NLR combined with CRP can be considered in Early treatment intervention.
