Abstract

Aim: This study was conducted to analyze the congenital malformations- their incidence, types, maternal socio-demographic profile and probable risk- factors. Results: our study showed that unwanted pregnancies, lack of antenatal checkups, no periconceptional folic acid intake, maternal diabetes mellitus, hypertensive disorders including Pre Eclampsia & Eclampsia, fever, maternal infections and drug intake were important factors associated with congenital malformations in the baby.
